This article explains the common types of heat-shrink tubing used in daily electrical work and the precautions during use.

(1) Usage Precautions
Heat-shrink tubing is a protective material frequently used by electricians in both professional work and daily life. It is mainly used to protect wire terminals and prevent cable damage.
When using it, you must select the proper size of heat-shrink tubing according to the wire cross-sectional area (wire gauge). After heating and shrinking, it should tightly fit the wire so it does not loosen or fall off, thereby providing better protection for the wire and its terminals.

(2) Processing Precautions
① Heating temperature selection
When using a heat gun to process heat-shrink tubing and wires, choose an appropriate temperature — usually between 50°C and 600°C — and adjust the heat gun to the suitable setting before shrinking the tubing.
② Safety protection
During processing, you must wear safety protective equipment such as gloves, safety goggles, and a mask to protect your body and prevent burns or other accidental injuries.
